Hamden Arts Commission's 2014 Free Summer Concert Series
Town Center Park at Meadowbrook,

Concerts are held on Fridays in July, 7:30 pm.

Friday, June 27: Navy Band Northeast at Hamden's Fireworks

This 35-member orchestra will perform at Hamden's Independence Day Celebration and fireworks display, sponsored by Hamden's Volunteer Firefighters, with support from the Town of Hamden and the Hamden Arts Commission. If inclement weather forces postponement of the fireworks to June 28, Navy Band Northeast will still perform on the 27th at Hamden High School.

The Navy Band Northeast will be starting at 7:15 PM.

Friday, July 11: The 5th Dimension with Florence LaRue

This concert will feature top hits by this famous Grammy Award -winning group, inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2002. The Fifth Dimension became popular in the 60s and 70s with such hits as Up and Away, Stoned Soul Picnic, Aquarius/Let the Sun Shine In, One Less Bell to Answer, Go Where You Wanna Go, Wedding Bell Blues, and I Didn't Get to Sleep at All.

Friday, July 18: The Platters

The original Herb Reed Platters are continuing Mr. Reed's legacy this year with a 60th Anniversary world tour, which includes a stop in Hamden. The Platters, who have sold over 80 million records, will bring us such hits as Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, Only You, My Prayer, The Great Pretender, Twilight Time and The Magic Touch.

Friday, July 25: FRAN COSMO, a former singer of BOSTON®

Lead Singer on the Platinum 'WALK ON' album!

Fran Cosmo will join his guitarist son, Anton, formerly of BOSTON® also, to play BOSTON's® hits: More than a Feeling, Peace of Mind, Foreplay/Long Time, Don't Look Back. BOSTON's® first album was the best selling debut album in US history. The group went on to sell over 31 million records in the US alone.

Friday, August 1: Dave Mason's Traffic Jam Tour

The singer/songwriter/musician, a 2004 inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, has played and recorded with such musical greats as Jimi Hendrix, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton and Michael Jackson. A co-founder of the band, Traffic, Mason has embarked on a Traffic Jam Tour. He will perform Feelin' Alright, Dear Mr. Fantasy, We Just Disagree, Low Spark of High Heeled Boys, Only You Know and I Know, Medicated Goo and more.
