C. Vann Woodward

Woodward (1908-1999) was a preeminent American history scholar and Sterling Professor Emeritus at Yale where he taught from 1961 to 1977. The author of over a dozen books and innumerable academic articles, he won a Pulitzer Prize in 1984 for Mary Chesnut‘s Civil War.
