Free Family Movie Night

The public is invited to enjoy a series of free family movie nights, with free popcorn and juice, on select Friday nights
throughout the year. The movies, which are sponsored by Hamden’s Community Services, Youth Services,
Parks and Recreation Departments and Arts Commission will be held at 7 pm at the M. L. Keefe Community Center.
Attendees can participate in a family craft project from 6 - 6:45 pm, hosted by the Eli Whitney Museum.

The 2009-2010 schedule includes some of the most popular family movies of the year.

 
Friday, October 9: Monsters Vs. Aliens
 


 

Monsters vs. Aliens (PG): An animated family-oriented action film, the plot begins when a meteorite from outer space hits a young woman, turning her into a giant. She is taken to a secret government compound with other "monsters," and further adventure unfolds.



Friday, November 20: Up

(PG): This animated masterpiece by Disney/Pixar Studios chronicles the adventures of a 78 year-old balloon salesman (voiced by Ed Asner) who ties balloons to his house and flies away with an 8-year-old stowaway. "Up" is an exciting, hilarious, impeccably crafted and heartfelt story. Already a winner of a Teen Choice Award, it is destined to earn others.



 

Friday, December 4: Race to Witch Mountain


(PG): A retelling of the 1968 novel, "Escape to Witch Mountain," this Disney fim is an action-packed roller coaster ride.

 

Friday, January 15: Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

(PG): The colorful, lovable, animated characters from two previous "Ice Age" blockbuster hits return for a humorous journey through a mysterious underground world.

 





Friday, February 5: Coraline

  (PG): From the director of "The Night Before Christmas," this animated film is a visually stunning tale of a bored young girl who enters a secret door into a fantastical world of adventure. Critics call the movie "a remarkable feat of imagination."

The movies will be held in the gymnasium of the Keefe Center, located on the corner
of Dixwell Avenue and Pine Street (across from Auto Zone).
Access to the parking lot is through the rear of the center on George Street.
